Reflections on a Year of Paper Artistry ✸
Blog #6, my friend. This one’s all about my thoughts about the year…
Almost A Year Recap
By the end of November, it’ll be a year since I started working with paper ✂️☺️
Of course, I jumped straight into complex collaging (ha!) instead of starting with simple cutouts and gradually building up. In that sense, not much has changed — I still love challenges — but there are shifts and results worth sharing.
First, I slowed down the “fast and furious” pace of creating illustrations and stopped chasing trends or showing endless productivity. At the end of the day, this isn’t mass printing — it’s delicate handwork, every line and cut made with intention. Working with paper taught me patience, attention to detail, and how to find rhythm in slow creation.
Second, I started telling the story behind each piece — showing the gluing, the tiny layers, and how I film and photograph my works. I wanted people to see not only the final collage but the craft behind it — the texture, the rhythm of cutting, the moment when a flat shape becomes alive. And finally — hallelujah — people began to buy more emotionally, regardless of the price (which grows along with my skills 😌). Collectors began to see each collage as something personal, not just decorative.
Third, I’ve been developing packaging as an essential part of the whole experience — from story to shipping. Every artwork now travels in custom paper packaging that feels like part of the artwork itself. The idea is simple: it should feel different from anything else out there.
And finally, I’m happy (and a little nostalgic) that most of my first practice collages found their homes — though a few are still on my website. Over time, their uniqueness will only grow; those first ones remain my charming little beginnings — imperfect, heartfelt, and truly mine.
